Hi Friends, Tania here to share ways to create bold layered gel prints by using the image resist transfer technique!
In this YouTube tutorial, I’ll demonstrate the process for you- along with written steps below!
To create bold contrast, use striking colours that are opaque as the second layer of your gel prints. This will create a more visual impact.
I made stencils I cut by hand, as well as an artificial monstera shaped leaf.
You don’t have to create new prints as your base layer, you can use old prints that you already have, that just need an extra touch to bring them to life!

Steps:
Create the base or first layer of your gel print. I chose to use bright colours.
Spread a thin layer of acrylic paint on your Gelli Arts® gel printing plate.
Lay the printable image face down and press it lightly. Leave on for a few seconds.
Lift the image and let it dry.
Spread another layer of acrylic paint – this is your pick up paint layer.
Place your chosen stencil or mask on the gel plate, while the paint is still wet.
While the paint is still wet, press the paper down very well, wait a bit, then lift it to reveal your print.
Tip: I chose to use black and white to create my image transfer silhouettes for maximum contrast, but you can choose any paint color that you desire!
