Use Your Gel Prints with Gelli Arts®: Create Little Gel Printed Scenes by Marsha Valk

Hi there! It’s Marsha here, back with a fun idea to try with your Gelli Arts® gel printed backgrounds!

Did you play along with the March Printing Challenge or the May 2022 Birgit Koopsen Gel Printing Challenge? If yes, then you may have a stack of background prints waiting for you to do something fun with!

So, why not create (what I call) a few gel printed little scenes like I share in this video:

I like to cut the silhouettes out of copy paper. I usually cut freehand or use a roughly sketched outline. You can also use cutouts from magazines if you like. Basic shapes work well!

Adhere the hand-cut silhouettes (masks) to the print of your choice with repositionable adhesive.

And… start to print!

You can keep adding masks with every new print layer. However, remember that a print must be dry before adhering another mask on top.

Of course, you can also start with a fresh sheet of paper! And, if you want white elements in your print, it’s a good idea to mask off those parts first.

Don’t worry if a mask sticks to the plate. You can easily re-apply them.

Once you are happy with your gel printed scene, you can add details using your favourite pens, pencils, markers and crayons.

Have fun giving it a go!
