Halloween Gel Printing with Gelli Arts® and Oxide Inks by Lou Simms

Hi everyone, Lou here today and I’m sharing how to create a fantastic selection of Halloween themed bunting from backgrounds created on our Gelli plates using distress oxide inks. However the same backgrounds could easily be recreated using paints too.

I’m on a mission recently to start using up my backgrounds and not to just hoard them, but to admire them too!

Using a selection of different oxide inks on my 5×7” Gelli Arts® gel printing plate, I began creating different backgrounds. I’ve added torn paper strips & stencils for added texture & depth.

When I printed all that I wanted to, out came my bunting dies & I die cut all the backgrounds leaving little or nothing left!I have even used the paper strips too as they have wonderful print designs on them too.

Next I began layering all my elements together adding different stamped images. Some of the images I have stamped on to the gelli print strips I made as they have create depth of colour.

Finally the “faffing” stage adding more printed die cut & stamped elements & a little texture using pastes.

You can see how I created my Halloween Bunting, from the initial backgrounds to the final pieces, in my video tutorial.
