From Trash to…Tissue Paper Flowers with Gelli Arts® by Giovanna Zara

Hello everyone, Giovanna here! For appreciation month I created a bunch of lovely paper flowers out of….trash: I used old book pages and tissue paper that I found in a boot box. I love upcycling and the result I got here is so colourful and stunning. Making these flowers is very easy: a lovely gift for your beloved ones or one of a kind bridal bouquet. Enjoy☺

TUTORIAL:

– Smooth a bit the tissue paper (if it is crumpled like mine)

– Roll a blob of acrylic paint, sprinkle some talc powder and pull a print on tissue paper

– TIP: to get a nice ombrè effect, roll white paint or titan buff on the bottom side of the Gelli® plate

– When the first layer is completely dry add interest with stencils

– When dry, gel print on the back

– Gel print on book page, same steps and colours

– Gel print on tissue paper, just one layer, with green acrylic paint

– Make several sheet of tissue paper with different colours

– Cut every sheet in large strip, approx size 11×22 cm (4.5×9”), same size for the book page

– Stack them together and fold concertina style with the book page at the bottom

– Thread some beads on a piece of wire and twist it around the center of the folded strip

– Trim the edges, round or triangle

– Open the flower and lift every layer gently

– Cut the leaves out of the green tissue paper

– Cover the stem with the green tissue paper and add the leaves
