Mindful Art Journaling with Gelli Arts® by Lou Sims

Hi everyone, Lou here today& I’m sharing how to create a mindful art journal page. It’s giving yourself permission to switch off and create just for you.

Create along with me here:

I began by printing a range of different backgrounds on my 8” x 10” Gelli plate with colours that I felt would fit the theme. Once they were dry, I began cutting them up!

Begin by creating some freehand petal shapes, a circle & finally choosing a piece to be your main background.I’ve chosen to ink all my edges but they could easily be left plain.

Next add the circle to your background & 3 petal shapes but do not stick the petal fully down. You could journal on the reverse of the petals if you wished to add even ore of a personal touch. I’ve added extra decoration/personalisation by doodling on the petals.

Add the top layer of petals & stick the flower centre in place. Now the fun part, grab all those old sentiment stickers we all hoard and start adding to the petals. Finally finish with some more freehand doodling.

I’ve mounted my mindful flower page on to a background of torn printed strips & white card, with a doodled border. As a finishing touch, I punched out some hearts from the backgrounds and added.

If you don’t have stickers, why not use sentiment stamps or even add your own handwriting.

You can see how I created my mindful page in full, in my video tutorial.
