Create Repeat Patterns and Textures with Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plates

Hi
everybody and welcome to my first post of 2018!

It’s
Birgit! Today, I am going to share a fun way of
creating repeat patterns and textures on your Gelli Arts® gel printing plate.
This is a great activity to do with kids!

First
you have to find a paint roller that fits inside your paper tube, collect some
tubes and you are ready to go!

1.
Self-adhesive craft foam. Cut simple shapes from the foam and add texture to
them with a skewer if you like.

2.
Sequin waste, also known as punchinella. Apply some double-sided tape at both ends to adhere the sequin
waste to the tube.

3.
Elastic bands.

4.
Thread and fibers. Cut a little notch on both sides of the tube to hold the thread.
Randomly wrap around the tube.

5.
Tin foil. Randomly wrap tin foil around the tube.

6.
Bubble wrap. Apply some double-sided tape at both ends to adhere the bubble
wrap to the tube.

7.
Cut shapes. Fold the tube to make it flat, then use scissors to cut out shapes.

8.
Painters tape. Randomly apply around the tube.

9.
Shaped edges. Use shaped scissors to cut the tubes into smaller parts.

Experiment
with combining several patterns. And don’t forget, the left over paint on
your tool will also create wonderful patterns when you roll them off on some
scrap paper.

Im pretty sure you will
find many more ways to create repeating pattern and texture with paper tubes. We
would love it if you share with us!

Thank
you so much for stopping by today!

Happy
printing!

Birgit

  1. VERY good idea! I was going to look for a new roller soon, anyway, so I will definitely keep this in mind and take an empty paper roll with me to test when I buy one!

Loved this video so much. Don't laugh but I have owned a gelli plate for 18+ months and it is still in the package (using it is one of my 6 creative goals/plans this year). Thanks.

Another great video with lively prints.

Deb, unwrap your plate today and have some fun…. you will absolutely love it…. call in sick all week!

  4. What great ideas. I love the effect the rubber bands have and I just received a package that was heavy on the bubble wrap. Now, like Deb, I need to find time to play.

  5. I just love these ideas. My friend and I are going to do these techniques on Wed 🙂 Thanks for all the ideas.

  6. I need to learn to think outside the box like this more often. Thank you for always showing us such creative ideas!
